I’m Now a Super Squid at Squidoo!

This is one of the good news that I got yesterday! I finally became a Super Squid at Squidoo. I did apply to be accepted to the Giant Squid Club. I’m really happy that I got accepted as I have been working hard on creating lenses over at Squidoo. It’s been two months since I joined the site and I’ve been quite active on it.

At the time of this writing, I have published at least 36 lenses. Of course, it’s not easy. It does take me time to create and complete my lenses. 🙂 I hope and pray that I continue to get inspiration for my writing. I not only enjoy it, but I’m also working hard to establish a more stable income from my writing. Eventually, I would want to level up and come up with my own books. 😀

Aside from this awesome news, I also received my first ever Purple Star at Squidoo! It’s a rather rare award, but it is given to lenses that have really good original content. 😀 I’m so happy with this other good news.

My next topic for my lensblography will then be about my first purple star lens, How We Care for Our Guinea Pigs.

Basic Supplies Every Student Needs at Home : A Lensblography

For the back to school challenge, I prepared this lens as I believe that each and every household should have this list. That way, you and your school age child should not have to worry about needing some school supplies only to find out that you don’t have them on hand.

What’s This Lens About?

This lens is about a list that I have kept with me for years end. To this day, it is highly important and useful. You don’t want the added stress of needing some supplies and not having them on hand.

School can be stressful for your young one, but make it less stressful by having school supplies that you need on hand.

Excerpt

Have you ever felt the feeling of panic when you need some school supplies and found out that you’ve run out, just when all the stores have closed? I’m pretty sure that’s not a nice feeling. You can avoid the “I-need-it-when-I-don’t-have-it” syndrome by planning ahead.

At this time, this is the only back to school lens that I have. But the list may expand as I go along. I also plan to eventually organize all my lenses and pick my niche.

What I Learned Making This Lens

I learned that sometimes the basics are constant in life. True, times change and seasons pass. In this case though, my school supplies list is still applicable, even if it needed a little bit of updating.

Another thing I’ve realized is being organized actually helps relieve some stress. Doing homework and reports is a breeze when you have what you need on hand.

What I Didn’t Learn Making This Lens

To date, I haven’t as yet learned how to maximize earning on my Squidoo lenses. I also learned that some lenses such as this one are rather seasonal, so I should find a way to make the lens relevant for all occasions. Web traffic is extremely necessary as it is crucial to all who work online.

Roswell TV Series : A Lensblography

This is my first Sci Fi theme lens. I admit that I wrote it to fulfill a ‘Squid-Zone’ Quest over at Squidoo. I’m not really a sci-fi type of person, although I have watched quite a few films in this genre. But the topic that I wrote about is quite close to my heart. It’s one of my most favorite TV series of all time — Roswell (TV Series).

What’s This Lens About?

This lens is about one of my most favorite sci-fi series on TV. Too bad it only lasted for three seasons! But boy, did I love the show! ^_^ I haven’t seen anything quite like it yet. True, the theme may be one of star-crossed lovers — ‘coz they were of different breeds — hey, didn’t I watch that before? Nope, this one isn’t about vampires or werewolves. It’s bigger than that! It’s about an alien — not as in the foreign kind, but the extra-terrestrial one — and a human girl. Ahh, memories of Max and Liz and how I fell in love with their love story.

Excerpt

I’m not exactly a fan of science fiction books,TV shows, or movies, but I do remember being a fan of the Roswell TV Series several years back. I used to allot some time to watch the show. I made it a point not to miss it because I really liked the tandem of Max Evans and Liz Parker.

To date, I can’t think of a related lens. But that may change in the near future. I just might think of coming up with an alien theme party or the like. LOL! ^_^ (Note: Watch out for updates in this section!)

What I Learned Making This Lens

Well, for one, I learned about the other books that were published in relation to the Roswell TV series. I don’t believe that I ever saw those books here locally. But at least, they’re available at Amazon! Plus, I’ve learned that there were even memorabilia of the defunct TV show that are being sold at Amazon too! And you can even watch the series on Amazon Instant Video.. awesome!

I’ve also learned that despite the years that went by since the last episode was aired, my liking for Roswell TV Series has not diminished. It’s still memorable for me. Just remembering the love story of Max and Liz sends me back down memory lane. Now, I wish I could buy a DVD set locally of the TV show. It’s one of those stuff that I’d want to have and to cherish.

What I Didn’t Learn Making This Lens

Well, I didn’t learn what happened to the supposed movie tie-in of the Roswell TV Series. I suppose when people think of alien movies, they want horrid action scenes. This one’s a love story, so it might not sell all that well.

I’ve learned to use the Sci Fi lens for the first time, but I’m not sure if that makes this Roswell TV Series lens saleable, so to speak. I have yet to discover what makes for a $1000 monthly income at Squidoo. I have a long, long way to go, that’s for sure!

Well, here’s to another edition of my lensblography. Watch out for the next one! Till next time.. ta-tah! 😀

How I Came To Own Winning Solos Text Ad Exchange : A Lensblography

This is my very first lens at Squidoo. I wrote it because the topic is close to my heart.

What’s This Lens About?

This is my story on how I started on my online earning journey. It is an ongoing journey and the story doesn’t have an ending yet.

I tell something about my text ad exchange site, Winning Solos Text Ad Exchange. I also mentioned how I came to own the site. Plus, if you’re new to online marketing, you may want to read my story. Perhaps you can learn a thing or two on how not to make money online.

Excerpt

It was during my dad’s funeral when a few of my graduate studies classmates went to visit. It was then when I learned about online earning opportunities. Apparently, my friend Jaye knew someone who made a living from writing reviews of restaurants, a food critic. I thought then, “Wow! What a way to earn a living.”

I mentioned about working online in one of my other lenses, Weekend Work and Fun Activities. Actually I just made a quick mention of one of the perks of working from home online. You may want to read on how important it is to achieve balance in your daily life.

What I Learned Making This Lens

Since this was my first lens, I didn’t know as much as I do about how to go about creating a lens at Squidoo. I wasn’t familiar with all the modules then. I had to spend quite a lot of time learning the site. I went on visiting and commenting in other people’s lenses. I not only get to absorb lots of ideas and concepts, but I also get to learn how to create an effective lens. Plus, doing so also gets me views to my own lenses.

In my eagerness to learn more about Squidooing, I signed up for RocketSquids bootcamp. It’s like free SquidU to help you reach at least 25 lenses. I’m thankful that I signed up because I have been learning a lot day by day. Plus, one of the things I love about Squidoo is that there are daily quests. Sometimes I get 2 or 3 all together. At those times, I get a bit worked up. The main reason is my mind gets to do lots of thinking. Like now. But I digress from my story.

Anyway, this lens has been improved and it will continue to be improved until perhaps I have reached my goal for Winning Solos T.A.E. I do want to have a happy ending, so I will start manifesting that right now. Watch out for more of my featured lenses.

What I Didn’t Learn Making This Lens

While making this lens, I didn’t learn how to write an enticing lens for Squidoo. After all, we all have to achieve a sense of balance. Content is king, but some form of monetary compensation must also be achieved. So from here on, I’m applying some of these learnings. It is my hope that you will find an improvement in my future works.

Iamraincrystal’s Squidoo Lensblography

I intended this site to just be all about me. Then in July 2012 I discovered Squidoo. Actually, I’ve known about the site even before that time, but I didn’t join right away. I knew someone who signed up for it with the intention of building backlinks to his main site.

So here I am, a few weeks after I’ve joined Squidoo. There’s so much that need to be learned. I’ve read from a few oldies that Squidoo earns them as much as $1000 a month! It may mean little to them… but from where I am, that means a lot! Totally!

So is that my main goal too? Yes and no. I must admit that since I’ve joined Squidoo, I’m a bit hooked on creating lenses. (On Squidoo, each article or post is called a lens.) Almost each day, you will find what can be called a Squidoo quest. Sometimes, you just need to look for certain themed lenses and at other times, you need to create those themed lenses.

So what do you get from Squidoo quests? Well, you earn points. These points accumulate and you get to level up. I think the Squidoo Team just put those in place to encourage more active participation from Squidoo members. Your level or points don’t have much to do with how much income is generated by your lenses.

Today I’ve decided to start a lensblography. A what, you say? Well, I’m giving credit to fellow lensmaster Greekgeek for coining the term. A lensblography is a blog about your Squidoo lenses. In a way, it’s also a good way of creating more content as well as backlink to your Squidoo lens.

Will it earn you more income from your lenses? Probably yes or probably not. I’m too new at this time to fully understand how one gets paid over at Squidoo. But based on what I’ve read, your income depends on the traffic generated by your Squidoo lenses. That means, the more you write about informative and helpful lenses (how-to’s, recipes, sharing tips, giving advice, etc.), the more chances you will have that your Squidoo lenses would be “evergreen.” That would mean they won’t ever go out of style.

It’s a bit too early for me to share some tips of my own. Give me a few more weeks or months. I will post some updates on whether my own experimentations worked or not. Remember, I’m tweaking and adapting as I go along.

In my next post, I will start sharing my Squidoo lenses with a little look at the behind the scenes from each post, mainly on why I chose the topic, how I put together my lens, what my style or technique is in putting it together, and perhaps some more helpful insights.

If you wish, here’s a sneak peek at my Squidoo lensmaster profile. My lenses are all listed at the bottom. Feel free to visit and share with me a comment or two. I’d love to hear from you.
